Sound Gets Around

This is Sound – one of our most climate adaptive table varieties so far, producing a high marketable yield in various climates. Sound can easily be grown in respect with nature:

• being late blight resistant (using less fungicide)
• having rapid canopy development (using less herbicide)
• using less water
• and being heat & drought tolerant

Sound produces tasty, long oval and light-yellow tubers with thin & bright skin. It’s a multipurpose variety suited for the table, home French fry and peeling markets.

Sound – Robust Yield

Below is the average yield (in tonnes/ha) of Sound in various countries (2018-2021). This graph indicates that Sound is climate and soil adaptive, showing a good and stable yield in various countries.

Sound Around the World

The map below shows to which countries Sound was delivered and where it is being cultivated in 2022. This indicates that there’s a strong global interest developing.

Due to its high yield in various climates, a strong global interest developed for Sound. Such is the case in South Africa where customer FPD grows and markets Sound for seed and ware growers. The average yield in South Africa was 86 tonnes/hectare in 2020-2021.

In Israel, Sound is in high demand domestically as it has a significantly higher yield compared to Spunta. Moreover, it shows better quality: very high washability and homogenous shape.

In Egypt, Sound has 20% more yield in the delta and 30% more yield than Spunta in the desert. Also the quality is better than Spunta with less deep eyes, more uniform tubers and a better skin quality.
